What is a TCA peel?
A TCA peel induces controlled skin exfoliation using a chemical agent called trichloroacetic acid. It is classified as a “medium” peel: depending on its concentration, it acts from the surface of the epidermis down to its junction with the dermis.
By deeply exfoliating the skin, it stimulates regeneration by promoting the production of collagen and new cells. The repaired layers serve as the foundation for smoother, clearer, and more radiant skin on the surface.

What TCA concentration produces what result?
TCA is one of the most versatile chemical peels: its depth of action depends on its concentration, which the doctor determines during the consultation based on your skin type and your goals.
TCA 15%: A Bold Move
A superficial peel for a dull complexion and visible pores. Instant radiance, with no downtime. This is a one-time treatment designed for use before a wedding or special event; schedule it two weeks in advance.
20–25% TCA: medium-depth peel
Superficial pigmentation, early wrinkles, and uneven skin texture. The skin peels for 5 to 7 days.
TCA 30–35%: deeper action
Melasma, sunspots, indented acne scars, and deep wrinkles. The peeling process lasts 7 to 10 days, and the treatment plan typically consists of 3 sessions.
What happens during a TCA peel treatment?
An initial consultation—which is free and required—allows the doctor to examine your skin and determine the TCA concentration, the treatment time, and the number of layers to be applied. The treatment itself consists of four steps.
Cleansing and Exfoliation
The doctor cleans the skin and removes dead skin cells so that the peel works evenly.
Application with a brush
TCA is applied with a brush to the treatment area, in one or more layers. A sensation of warmth and tingling is normal while the solution is left on.
Neutralization
When the skin turns white—a sign that the acid has reached the desired depth—the doctor stops the treatment by applying a compress soaked in water.
Repair Cream
A moisturizing and soothing cream wraps up the session. You’ll leave with instructions on skincare and sun protection.
After the treatment, the skin appears pink to red and then peels for 3 to 7 days, depending on the concentration. Plan on 1 to 3 treatments spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart for acne spots and scars, and a single treatment for a quick boost in radiance.

Cost of TCA peels in Morocco
The price is the same in Casablanca and Tangier: a single session, or a package of 3 sessions, which corresponds to the standard treatment protocol for acne spots and scars.

Contraindications, Aftereffects, and Precautions

Contraindications
- Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
- Active herpes or unprotected recurrent outbreaks
- Oral retinoids (isotretinoin) within the last 6 months
- Recently tanned skin: wait 4 weeks
- History of keloid scars or wound-healing disorders
- Active skin infection in the area
Expected Consequences
- Redness and tightness on the same day
- Skin will peel off in fine flakes for 3 to 7 days; let it happen naturally without scratching
- A feeling of tightness in the skin for a few days
- Rarely, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, especially when sun protection is not used
- Any unusual side effects should be reported to the doctor, who will adjust the treatment
Olive and dark skin tones
- People with skin types IV through VI have a higher risk of hyperpigmentation after a chemical peel
- Depigmentation treatment 3 to 4 weeks beforehand, if the doctor deems it necessary

A glycolic acid peel is superficial and does not cause visible peeling of the skin. TCA works more deeply, causing peeling that lasts a few days, but its results on dark spots, fine lines, and scars are significantly more pronounced.
The TCA peel is versatile and well-suited for olive and dark skin tones. Lasers are used to treat specific conditions: the Lutronic Hollywood Spectra laser for pigmented spots, and the Frax laser for acne scars and skin rejuvenation. Both are combined in certain treatment protocols, and the doctor will guide you during your complimentary consultation.
This is not recommended: sun exposure increases the risk of hyperpigmentation after a peel. The ideal time is from October to March, and sunscreen is required for 3 months after each session.
